US 30 is now open for travel
by Wyoming Department of Transportation
June 5, 2009
WYDOT engineers, construction and maintenance crews worked since dawn today to stabilize the damaged bridge detour south of Medicine Bow. On the evening of June 3 heavy, prolonged rain flooded the detour making the road impassible. Yesterday, an additional 48 inch pipe was installed beneath road surface to lower the water level and alleviate upstream pressure. Another 72 inch pipe was added today. Engineers then inspected and repaired the eroded areas. For the time being, flaggers will be present and travel will be limited to a single lane for the one thousand foot length of the repaired detour. It's been a spring with heavy storms in southeast Wyoming and more are in the forecast. Motorists are reminded that when planning travel it is a good idea any time of year to check ahead on road conditions by visiting the website: http://www.wyoroad.info/highway/conditions/dist1.html Or, call 511 or 1-888-WYO-ROAD toll-free nationwide for the latest information.
