Corvette Club visits the Moondance Diner

On Saturday (July 25), members of the Sum ‘R’ Fun Southwestern Wyoming Corvette Club drove up to the Moondance Diner in LaBarge for lunch. The club bases out of the Green River/Rock Springs area. They have about 65 members, including some from LaBarge and Big Piney, with others from as far away as Lander, Casper, and Butte, Montana. Club members own Corvettes of every type, C2, C3, C4, C5 and C6 series. The oldest one is 1966 vintage.
The club holds a "cruise night" once a month during the summer to travel to a place of interest to club members. They also attend "Vet fest" car shows around the region. The next one in Wyoming will be in Casper over Labor Day weekend.
"We have a lot of fun," said club president Gary Bailiff. He owns a C6, Z 06 model, which is the sixth generation of Chevrolet Corvette sports cars.
The Corvettes first came out in 1953. The generations produced are referred to as C1, the first, through C6, the current version. Each generation has multiple versions with varying features.
Club member Donnie Lain, from LaBarge, has been a member of the club for about six years. He has a 2003, 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Corvette. He said they only did the limited edition 50th year deep red special paint color for one year, and used gold rims on the wheels instead of silver.
After enjoying lunch, club members caravanned through LaBarge to showcase the cars to other car enthusiasts in town. LaBarge holds their annual DoLittle Car Show in August, based out of the Eagle Bar.
