Drag out the flags, sun screen, deck out the kids in red, white and blue and plan to spend Independence Day in Pinedale!
Live entertainment, food, special events for children, and a patriotic program will come together during the annual Pinedale Town Picnic set for July 4 at the American Legion Park from 11am -3pm.
This year the picnic is a community-wide partnership between the Town of Pinedale, individual organizations and volunteers. Among the groups who have teamed up to provide fun activities during the picnic are the Green River Land Trust, the Children’s Discovery Center, BOCES, the Pinedale Aquatic Center and the Sublette Examiner.
The day will kick off at 11am with a "Decorate to Celebrate" booth set up at the entrance to the American Legion Park. Volunteers from the Children’s Discovery Center will be providing flags, balloons and streamers for kids of all ages to decorate bikes, trikes, strollers, and anything else they can think of, for the "1st Annual Spirit of Pinedale Kids Bike Parade". The parade starts at noon and will move through the park to the Veteran’s Memorial, where there will be a brief Flag Ceremony to commemorate our country’s birthday hosted by Fremont Peak VFW Post 4801.
Following the ceremony the Town will be serving hot dogs, hamburgers and cold drinks. Town residents are encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert to share with friends and neighbors.
Folk singers Ann and Pete Sibley will be sharing their musical talents during the picnic, with their amazing blend of original folk, bluegrass, old-timey and traditional songs.
The afternoon will be filled with more fun activities including children’s games hosted by the Green River Valley Land Trust. The Children’s Discovery Center will attempt to revive the Pine Creek Duck Dash (if the water is safe!) as a special fundraiser for the kids. Sublette County BOCES will be staging The Great Pinedale Water Balloon Fight, the PAC is bouncing in with inflatable fun, and creative dressers of all ages will be sure to enter this year’s patriotic costume contest hosted by the Sublette Examiner.
