The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Rock Springs Field Office is seeking comments on the suitability and specific use of a parcel of land for a fire facility proposed under the Recreation & Public Purposes (R&PP) Act for Sweetwater Fire District Number One.

The proposed R&PP lease and/or transfer of title would affect 20 acres of BLM-administered land located northwest of Rock Springs, Wyo. This project would allow Sweetwater Fire District Number One to provide better service to the residents of Rock Springs and Sweetwater County.

The R&PP Act allows BLM to lease or patent (transfer title) public lands to local governments at reduced rates to provide for essential public services such as police or fire stations, schools, or for community services such as parks and recreation facilities.

Written comments on this proposal should be sent to the Lance Porter, Field Manager, Rock Springs Field Office, 280 Highway 191 North, Rock Springs Wyo. 82901. In order to be given full consideration, comments must be postmarked by September 28, 2009.
