Through the efforts of the Sublette County 4-H/Youth Development Program and the Sublette Community Partnership, Big Piney Elementary students can now enroll in an afterschool program.
Keyth Palmer has been hired as the after-school coordinator for the 2009-10 school year. She will be providing services under the Sublette County 4-H/Youth Development program. Palmer, who has an associate degree in Special Education, has been employed by School District No. 9 for many years in various educational capacities.
The program will be available Monday through Friday from 3:15 to 5:30 p.m. for K-5th grades. The program will follow the school calendar. Program fees will be $50.00/month. Scholarships are available. Activities in science, engineering, and technology, the arts, and culture, leadership, healthy lifestyles, and life-skills will compose some of the enrichment programming. Palmer will work closely with the Big Piney Recreation Department and other community organizations to enhance educational opportunities for local children.
The Big Piney Afterschool program is made possible in part through the generous support of Sublette County, the Sublette County Child Care Coalition, School District #9, and United Way of Southwest Wyoming.
