Fire Weather Watch

The National Weather Service in Riverton, Wyoming has issued a Fire Weather Watch for portions of western Wyoming from noon Saturday until 9 pm Saturday evening.

An approaching trough of low pressure will create a tightening pressure gradient over Wyoming making for breezy conditions. These winds could combine with relative humidity values below 15 percent as well as critically dry fuels to produce red flag conditions Saturday afternoon and evening.

A Fire Weather Watch is also in effect for the Absaroka Mountains, Eastern Wind River Mountains, Shoshone National Forest, Lincoln and Uinta counties, lower elevations of the Upper Green River Basin, Rock Springs BLM in Sweetwater County, Flaming Gorge NRA from Saturday afternoon through Saturday evening.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
