United Way of SW Wyoming contributes to afterschool programs in Pinedale/Big Piney

The newly established Pinedale and Big Piney afterschool programs are pleased to announce that they have received funding from United Way of Southwest Wyoming. As United Way partners, the programs will receive a total of $10,000 to be divided equally between the two communities. United Way funds will be used to help cover program staffing costs as well as providing educational materials for each program.
"Establishment of these programs has been a tremendous asset to working families in both communities and we cannot express how appreciative we are to have the support of agencies such as United Way", says Robin Schamber, University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension 4-H Educator. "As both programs are entirely dependent on grant funding, the need to hire additional staff is well served with these funds".
The Afterschool programs began this fall through a collective effort between many youth serving agencies in the county. The programs are administered through the Sublette County 4-H program with assistance from the Sublette Community Partnership. Together the programs are currently serving over 70 youth ages K-5. The programs run M-F school days and offer youth development programming in areas such as citizenship, Character Counts!, science, engineering and technology and other community engaging programs. As a United Way partner, the programs aim to serve the communities by addressing the lack of positive youth development activities for school age children.
