Rideshare, linking riders with drivers for trips

Rideshare, a free community based service linking potential riders with drivers for trips around the region officially launched its new website on Monday, February 1, 2010. This online resource is the idea of Robyn & Alan Blackburn, owners of local transportation company Sublink Stage.
Currently Sublink Stage operates 14 and 24 seat passenger vehicles, and offers a charter service to any location within a 300 mile radius from Pinedale. The company frequently receives calls from individuals looking for rides to Salt Lake City, Jackson or Rock Springs from people needing to catch flights or buses, go shopping or get to medical appointments and who would prefer not to pay a taxi rate. After trying for four years to offer a regularly scheduled service to Salt Lake, the Blackburns know that there isn’t enough ridership for an unsubsidized service, but that there are still significant numbers of people looking for a way to make the trip.
They will be hosting the Sublink Stage Rideshare website as a community service.
Similar programs have been successful around the country as citizens realize the benefits of sharing costs, reducing emissions, and enjoying a rider’s company on the relatively long drives common in our region, whether to an airport, fitness class, local event or even the daily commute between Pinedale and Big Piney.
Please visit the site at www.sublinkstage.com to check out the easy to use format and learn more about ridesharing benefits and safety tips. Registered users will have the chance to win random prizes including gas vouchers and Rock Rabbit coffee coupons.
