Harlem Ambassadors thrill Pinedale
by Mindi Crabb, Pinedale Lions Club
March 21, 2010
The Harlem Ambassadors and Sublette County LifeSavers played to a full house Friday night at the Wrangler Gym in Pinedale.
Kids and adults alike enjoyed the crazy antics of the Ambassadors, who enlisted the help of players, refs and audience members in their fun. Lady Ashley showed a penchant for "taking down" LifeSaver players and proudly sported a WWF type belt as proof of her prowess. The LifeSavers showed a few tricks of their own, including "teamwork" dunking with the "dunkor" getting a springboard up from big man Curt Esterholt. Aimee Binning performed a great "pants off" move on an Ambassador on the line for a foul shot; those free throw opportunities regularly turned in to group square dances…

Following the game the Ambassadors promised to stay until every person who wanted an autograph was satisfied, and even their announcer Ace said he’d never seen the degree of creativity shown by Sublette County’s kids; we saw tennis shoes, cowboy hats and cell phones autographed by a smiling Ambassador team.
Earlier in the afternoon the Harlem Ambassadors spoke at the Pinedale Middle School, telling the students that staying in school and staying off drugs could provide great opportunities later in life. Team Manager Jessie explained that he had been able to travel to all 50 states and 16 foreign countries in the last six years by following those rules. All team members are either college graduates or currently pursuing their degrees. Principal Kevan Kennington stated that this was the perfect way to cap off a hard week of testing at the school.
