Pinedale Nordic Ski Grooming Report, March 4
by Bob Barrett, Pinedale Ski Education Foundation
March 5, 2010
Warm temperatures and a thin snowpack have combined to restrict grooming over much of the local ski trail system. Bare spots are showing on all trails south of White Pine along Skyline Drive. As a result, the PistenBully has been moved to higher ground and will be used to groom only upper Skyline to Elkhart Park along with the meadow at Surveyor Park and the Tree Loop as conditions allow.
For now, the CCC Ponds Pathway is holding onto a thin but hard-packed ski surface over the asphalt for the 1 1/4 mile distance from the south to the north end parking areas. Unless it melts out, we’ll continue to groom here with the snowmachine drag until March 15. Grooming of the spurs off of the pathway has ended due to poor snow conditions.
