Three power outages put over 1900 Sublette County residents in the dark over the weekend in Big Piney, Marbleton and Pinedale.
According to Rocky Mountain Power public relations spokesperson Jeff Hymas, a downed power line shut down power in the Big Piney-Marbleton area for about five-1/2 hours Saturday night starting around 8:14PM until 1:48AM Sunday morning. The outage knocked out power to approximately 128 residents north of town.
The second outage lasted for about ½ hour from 6:15AM to 6:43AM Sunday morning. This outage was done by Rocky Mountain Power to reroute power in order to safely complete an emergency damage repair. Around 4:00AM a Pinedale resident who lives on Orcutt Hill noted hearing an explosion some distance away and the power went off for about a minute or so, then came back on again. Hymas said the sound heard around 4AM was likely a circuit breaker opening up at one of the substations when it detected the disturbance on a power line associated with this outage. The cause of this damage and outage has not yet been determined. The second outage affected 1,810 customers in Pinedale.
The weekend outages in Big Piney-Marbleton and Pinedale were unrelated to each other, Hymas said.
