Edgar Allan Poe comes to life at the Library June 11

PINEDALE – Edgar Allen Poe’s psychological thrillers, The Raven and The Tell Tale Heart, will come to life at the Sublette County Library on 155 S. Tyler Ave. Friday, June 11 at 7pm. Broadway and film veteran Duffy Hudson will present a dramatic interpretation of Poe’s works, providing viewers with a unique theatrical experience of one of America’s most mysterious personalities.

Edgar Allan Poe, Master of the Macabre, was orphaned by the age of three, raised by a foster father who erratically swung between lenience and extreme discipline; and finally launched himself into adulthood when he married his much younger cousin, who died before her 25th birthday.

It’s no wonder Poe's work focused on the morbid, the bizarre, and the outcast. The wonder is that he found a way to make such poignant prose from his suffering. Before his death at age 40, Edgar Allan Poe raised the American short story to a new level, writing works that completely modernized detective fiction, science fiction and the horror story.

Was Poe a tormented soul or literary genius? Come listen and decide for yourself.
