The Green River Valley Museum opens for the summer season on Tuesday, June 1st. The Museum is located at 206 N. Front St in Big Piney.
The Museum is open from June 1 to October 15, Tuesday through Saturday, from Noon to 4:00 PM. Admission is by donation.
On Saturday, June 5th, the Museum will host the dedication of the original historic Big Piney Library building. There will be refreshments and tours of the buildings. There will also be a Humanities program, "My Horse, My Gun, My Libraries" by Lynne Swanson at 2:00pm.
The Museum’s annual fundraiser, "Something Old, Something New Antique Roadshow," is scheduled for this fall, as Tim Gordon was unable to make it this spring.
Enjoy an afternoon at the Museum and see all the Sublette County history on display. Exhibits include early settlement history, a tie hack exhibit, displays about local ranching, early oil and gas exploration in the valley, World War II displays, an exhibit on the Wardell Buffalo Trap, early newspaper history in Big Piney, early coal mining history, the Price-Sommers one-room log schoolhouse exhibit, the Halfway Post Office exhibit, early ranching equipment and vehicle displays, oral histories by local residents, the Burnham building exhibit.
