Half Moon Lake Lodge reopens
Resort located on the shore of Half Moon Lake
by Dawn Ballou, Pinedale Online!
June 8, 2010
After being closed for nearly four years, Half Moon Lake Lodge has reopened.
The lodge, located on National Forest land on the shore of scenic Half Moon Lake, is permitted through the Pinedale Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest. The complex includes a restaurant, marina, cabins, fishing, photography trips, horseback riding, wilderness pack trips, equipment drop-offs and big game hunting. It is located approximately 8 miles from Pinedale.
They offer eight guest rooms in cabins on the hillside overlooking the lake. The cabins can accommodate large and small groups and the facilities can accommodate up to 40 guests. Cabins feature modern bathrooms, microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot and outdoor decks.
The restaurant is open for Lunch Wednesday through Sunday from 11:00AM to 2:00 PM and for Dinner Wednesday through Saturday from 5:00 to 9:00PM. They offer fine dining with selections including steaks, seafoods and fine wines. During the week a Continental breakfast will be delivered to the door of guest cabins and a hot breakfast is available to weekend guests.
Their marina consists of a state of the art dock system which includes 21 slips. Some slips can be rented by the day, month or season. They also offer onsite fuel pumps for boat fueling. A nearby Forest Service boat launch offers easy access to the lake.
Guests can arrange horseback trail rides and overnight pack trips. Pack trips can be an overnight trip to one that lasts over a week in the high country of the Wind River Mountain Range. They supply the tents, food and all camp necessities. For backpackers and climbers, they offer gear drops and spot packs. For gear drops, they will pack your gear in and leave it at a pre-arranged site. The spot pack is similar, except guests ride in with the wranglers, saving valuable time and energy getting to remote locations.
Half Moon Lake Lodge is a great place for a romantic getaway, base-camp for hikes into the National Forest, group functions including family reunions, and a very scenic location for an outdoor wedding.
The lodge is being operated and managed by Terry and Barbara Pollard with Bald Mountain Outfitters.
