Telephone/Internet outage in Sublette County

For the third time in several weeks, Sublette County residents had their land line phone service cut off for hours due to the cutting of a fiber optic telecommunication cable.
Service was lost around 5:30 PM on Tuesday, June 22, and finally restored around 3:30AM. Some customers had phone service earlier, around 1:30 AM.
The outage apparently occurred during highway road construction taking place between Bondurant and Hoback Canyon. The fiber optic line cut belonged to Qwest. Due to sharing of those fiber optic lines, the outage also impacted landline phone, internet and cell phone customers in Sublette County using CenturyLink, Sprint, Verizon and Wyoming.com services. Union Wireless cell service, which has their own independent system, remained operational during the outage.
There is no report yet on the number of customers affected by the most recent loss of phone and internet service.
