Greys River Road bridge work temporary road closures
Closed July 15-October 1 for Shot Hole Springs Bridge, Poison Creek Bridge, East Fork Bridge
by Bridger-Teton National Forest
July 26, 2010
The Greys River Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest will be replacing three bridges in the Upper Greys River area this summer. The bridges are the Shot Hole Springs Bridge, the Poison Creek Bridge, and the East Fork Bridge along the Greys River Road approximately 40 miles southeast of Afton, Wyoming via the Smiths Fork Road. The new bridges will have concrete decks and each bridge will require curing time to gain the required strength. Due to the narrow canyon and no opportunity for a bypass, the Greys River Road will be closed from July 15 to October 1. Construction work is planned to begin Wednesday, July 28. Construction signs and barricades will be posted near the construction in locations convenient for turning vehicles around.
The Greys River Ranger District identified these bridges as needing replacement due to the age and condition of the wood crib abutments and decking. The new bridges will result in improved public safety and hydrologic function of the Greys River.
