From West Yellowstone to Madison
Allow 45 minutes travel time from West Yellowstone to Madison Junction.
From Gardiner/Mammoth Hot Springs or from Cooke City/Silvergate to
Madison
The road between Norris and Madison through Gibbon Canyon is CLOSED nightly to all traffic between 10 PM and 8AM due to road construction. It is open with up to 30 minute delays between 8 AM and 10 PM. When open, plan on at least 1 1/2 hours travel time between Mammoth and Madison.
You can travel from Mammoth Hot Springs to Madison Junction between 10PM and 8AM am by way of Norris, Canyon, Fishing Bridge, West Thumb, and Old Faithful. A chip seal project from Canyon to Fishing Bridge is set to begin Monday morning, with up to 30 minute delays possible. Also watch for heavy traffic around Fishing Bridge due to the ongoing Beach Fire.
From the East Entrance to Madison
You are advised to travel to Madison via Fishing Bridge, West Thumb, and Old Faithful in order to avoid both the overnight construction closure and daytime delays between Norris and Madison Junction through Gibbon Canyon, and up to 30 minute delays between Fishing Bridge and Canyon due to a chip seal project which gets underway Monday morning. Watch for heavy traffic around Fishing Bridge due to the ongoing Beach Fire.
From the South Entrance to Madison
No construction delays are anticipated from the South Entrance to Madison by way of West Thumb and Old Faithful.
