The first complete and comprehensive biography of W. N. "Neil" McMurry, written by Ann Chambers Noble, is about to be published and will be available for purchase later this month. The new book, Hurry McMurry: W. N. "Neil" McMurry, Wyoming Entrepreneur, is the life story of one of Wyoming’s best-known businessmen and philanthropists.
The narrative begins with McMurry’s early childhood in Casper during the Great Depression, progresses through his service as a B-17 gunner in Europe during World War II, and details his return home, raising a family, and building a business career. McMurry spent decades constructing highways as a partner in the Rissler and McMurry Company. He played a central roll in the successful drilling for natural gas in the Jonah Field and Pinedale Anticline, and today development numerous enterprises, such as the McMurry Business Park in Casper.
Perhaps the most important part of McMurry’s story, though, is how he has succeeded – through honest business practices. His handshake and his word have been better than any written contract. As we struggle with the fallout from one of our nation’s worst recessions, brought on by unethical business dealings, it is refreshing to read about those who have achieved their goals with their characters intact. Neil McMurry is proof that it can be done.
The public is invited to a reception and book signing with the author on Friday August 27, 2010, 5 to 7 p.m., at the Half Moon Lake Restaurant near Pinedale.

Local graphic artist, Sue Sommers, did the layout and design for the book and cover, as well as editing. Dari Quirk, of Pinedale, helped edit the book.
