Tom Strickland, assistant secretary of the Interior for fish and wildlife and parks, has an editorial in the Los Angeles Times today suggesting Wyoming needs to change its wolf plan so that wolves in the Northern Rockies can be removed from federal protections. He said "recovery requires Wyoming to change its policy," to join in management efforts similar to those in Montana and Idaho.
Governor Dave Freudenthal has noted that unlike the other states involved which developed wolf management plans, the entire state of Wyoming is included in the wolf recovery area, not just part of the state.
