Pinedale Community Assessment listening sessions Sept 15 & 16
by Wyoming Rural Development Council
August 11, 2010
The Wyoming Rural Development Council (WRDC) will be in Pinedale Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 15 and 16th to facilitate an updated Community Assessment.
The community assessment program provides communities an affordable process to assess their problems and challenges, identify their assets, and to define issues and projects that they would like to achieve, with hopes that it will lead to long range planning.
The original community assessment was conducted in 2002 as a county wide assessment.
The updated assessment will focus on the Town of Pinedale and will consist of a series of listening sessions on the 15th and 16th at the Pinedale Library. Sessions are open to the public and facilitated by WRDC resource members. These listening sessions are broken into 8 focus groups, each group will be asked the same set of questions. Focus groups include: Tourism & Recreation, Economic Development, Land Development & Planning, Pinedale Based Business, Civic & Non-Profit Groups, Government Services & Utilities, Seniors and Youth. The WRDC identifies the major themes and provides recommendations and resources for those themes.
The preliminary results of the listening session will presented at a Town Meeting open to the public at the Library at 6pm on Sept. 16th. The final results will be compiled into a report that will be available through Town Hall and on WRDC's website.
The Town of Pinedale uses the Community Assessments to identify current issues, trends, and public opinion on the state of the Town. The public's responses will be utilized for talking points for future planning and forming Town policy and decision making. A schedule with listening session times will be released in late August.
