Harv Forsgren, Regional Forester for the US Forest Service Intermountain Region, is pleased to announce that Jacque A. Buchanan has been selected as the new Forest Supervisor for the Bridger-Teton National Forest. Buchanan, who has been serving a 120 day detail as the forests Acting Forest Supervisor, comes to Wyoming from the Lincoln National Forest in New Mexico where she was Forest Supervisor for 2 ½ years and Deputy Forest Supervisor for three years before that.
"I look forward to having Jacque join our Regional Leadership Team. We had a very talented group of applicants from which to pick. Jacque is truly the "cream of the crop" and the right fit for the Bridger-Teton. We asked elected officials, the Forest Leadership Team and employees what they were looking for in a Forest Supervisor -- they all described Jacque!" said Forsgren.
Jacque has been a US Department of Agriculture employee for 22 years. Prior to working on the Lincoln, she was the District Ranger on the Glenwood Ranger District of the Gila National Forest. She worked for several different agencies including the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service and the Farm Service Agency before transferring to the US Forest Service. She began her career in North Carolina before moving west to work in New Mexico and Wyoming during the last 15 years.
Buchanan started college at Eastern New Mexico University and completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources at Pennsylvania State University in May, 1988.
Jacque Buchanan came to the US Forest Service as a Recreation Specialist on the Gila National Forest but has strong experience in Fire, Range, International Forestry and Forest Health. She has an extensive background working with forest partners and groups, which allows her to communicate and focus on internal and external collaborative partnerships. Jacque worked closely with numerous groups throughout New Mexico and is the past President for the New Mexico Section of the Society of Range Management.
Buchanan officially reports for duty as Forest Supervisor on Tuesday, October 12.
