Sept. 27 last chance to make an ornament for the BTNF Christmas Tree

The Bridger Teton National Forest is sending the Christmas Tree to Washington DC this year. Will your ornament be on it? Rendezvous Pointe, Ridley's Family Market and Sublette County Library are sponsoring one last free ornament making session on Monday, September 27th from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. at Rendezvous Pointe - 425 E. Magnolia Ave in Pinedale. Please call Beth Allen at 307-367-2881 to reserve your spot.
Every year since 1970, a Christmas tree has been presented to the United States Congress from a national forest and is known as "The People's Tree." Schoolchildren and organizations throughout Wyoming will create more than 5,000 ornaments to be placed on this iconic symbol. Individuals from all corners of Wyoming will submit ornaments reflecting the theme of Wyoming - Forever West.
"The ornaments we will collect will be as diverse as our state. Using natural materials from the Cowboy State and materials that epitomize the west, the creativity of this year's ornaments is sure to be nothing short of astounding" said Mary Cernicek Capitol Christmas Tree Coordinator for the Bridger-Teton National Forest.
An additional 1,000 indoor ornaments will decorate 75 trees placed throughout federal buildings in the Capitol. These ornaments are smaller in size, ranging from 3 to 7 inches tall. Since these creations will be crafted for indoor use, they could be more refined and delicate. Many of these ornaments could be submitted by arts groups, clubs and service organizations. In fact, most ornaments used by offices throughout the Capitol Complex will become part of office Christmas ornament collections.
