To raise awareness of recovery from substance use disorders in Sublette County
by Sublette County Treatment Court
September 21, 2010
More than 22 million people in the United States have been classified with substance use disorders in the past year. To raise awareness of this disease and inform people of the available treatment and recovery resources, a collaboration of local organizations will host an Art and Poetry Show in Pinedale on September 29th, 2010.
The Art and Poetry Show is part of the 21st observance of National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month (Recovery Month), sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA’s) Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
This year’s celebration in Sublette County, "The Art of Recovery", intends to honor those living a healthy life in recovery as well as educate the community about substance use disorders and the effectiveness of treatment and the possibility of recovery. This show celebrates life in recovery through a variety of artistic and poetic creations and encourages friends, colleagues, and family members to begin their own journey through recovery.
In addition to displaying their art and poetry, speakers will share their stories of overcoming addiction and their lives in long-term recovery.
