WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today (Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010), U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), along with members of the Republican Study Committee (RSC), signed onto an Amicus Brief in support of the legal challenge to ObamaCare, brought by 20 states and the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB).
Lummis released the following statement:
"A bill that was once promoted as a job creator is unmistakably the opposite – ObamaCare is a job killer. Today I stand with these states and the NFIB in their efforts to overturn this health care law. ObamaCare imposes devastating regulations on our small businesses, busts the budget and erodes Americans’ personal liberty.
"ObamaCare must be stopped and I will continue to fight on every front to ensure its dissolution. The American people have spoken, and they want ObamaCare repealed and replaced with common sense solutions."
The brief cites the lack of Congressional authority under the Constitution’s commerce clause to impose an individual mandate forcing every American to purchase insurance.
Oral arguments in this case are scheduled for Dec. 16.
