Encana instrumental in bringing the arts to Sublette County students and residents
The Pinedale Fine Arts Council (PFAC) received a $6,000 donation from Encana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. to support its Community Arts Programming and Education project.
The year-long PFAC project includes a season ticket performing arts series, a free summer park series, a relaxed coffeehouse series, arts education in the schools and outreach in the community.
"Arts education enhances ingenuity and develops artistic richness," said Randy Teeuwen, Encana community relations advisor. "Encana’s contribution not only supports the community’s education and cultural outreach, but ensures our future generations will be deeply embedded in the arts. We are happy to continue supporting arts appreciation in Sublette County."
Since 2003, Encana has been a strong supporter of PFAC, contributing more than $33,000 to bring the arts and culture to the area.
The project serves the residents of Pinedale, Big Piney, Boulder, Cora, Bondurant, Daniel and LaBarge, with a primary focus on students. In fact, the PFAC is working with teachers to bring in artists that benefit their students and enrich their curriculum. "Since our project correlates with the school districts' curriculum, teachers can easily meet state educational standards," said Dana Tully, PFAC executive director. "This project provides students with increased exposure to various arts and gives them the opportunity to associate with professional artists in a classroom setting."
According to Tully, extensive research shows that art boosts creativity, supports learning, broadens horizons and enriches lives. In addition, the arts promote family and civic values, teach creative problem-solving and teamwork, and encourage ethnic and cultural diversity.
"It’s our vision to offer a lifelong basis for participation and enjoyment because we believe the arts are the center of human experience," said Tully. "We appreciate that Encana supports educational and cultural outreach activities. Their donations make it possible for small organizations, such as ours, to leverage that money for our communities, and to make our organizations viable entities. Thank you for your vision and support."
