The Sublette County Library Board and the Pinedale Fine Arts Council are pleased to announce their decision to officially name the annual March Film Fest the Daphne Platts Film Festival in honor of Daphne Platts, the former director, for her 26 years of service.
Storylines guaranteed to stay with you long after the house lights have come up, is the common theme for the 2011 Film Fest co-sponsored by the Sublette County Library and Pinedale Fine Arts Council (PFAC). Steig Larsson’s "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" trilogy will kick off the season on Saturday, March 5th in the library’s Lovatt Room. This special triple feature will start at 4 pm. Admission is free and popcorn will be provided.
Daphne says she, is looking forward to her continuing role as the Master of Ceremonies for the Film Festival. "The library has partnered with PFAC every March since 1998 when the library was still on Fremont Street. It's been a positive collaboration all the way around."
Her love for movies and wanting to share favorite films with other movie buffs inspired Daphne to host the Film Festival. Aside from getting to order books and open the boxes, the March Film Festival was one of her favorite tasks at the library.
Daphne’s movie tastes are eclectic. "One of my favorite films is Ingmar Bergman's Fanny and Alexander and, I hate to admit it, but I loved Talladega Nights with Will Farrell. The movie made fun of NASCAR, but in a good way".
