‘Artifact ID’ topic for Feb. 15 WAS meeting
Upper Green River Basin Chapter of the Wyoming Archaeological Society
February 11, 2011
The Upper Green River Basin Chapter of the Wyoming Archaeological Society will hold their next regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 15th at the Green River Valley Museum in Big Piney at 7:00PM. This meeting will be an "Artifact ID" session. WAS members who wish to have locally found artifacts identified by professional archaeologists are invited to bring them to this meeting. The club’s only request is to put a dot on a map, allow them to photograph, measure and weigh the artifacts so the artifacts may added to a database, especially if they are paleoindian or special in any way. Member’s confidentiality will be adhered to and what is brought in will be retained by the discoverer.
If you have an artifact you’d like to bring in, but you are not a WAS member, you can sign up for membership the day of the meeting. Cost is $20/year for an individual membership. $25/year for a family. $50/year for institutions/companies.
The Upper Green River Chapter of the Wyoming Archaeological Society meets the third Tuesday of every month, alternating between the Museum of the Mountain Man in Pinedale and the Green River Valley Museum in Big Piney. Everyone welcome. www.sublette.com/was
