‘Reviving Ophelia’ Feb. 22 – Movie for Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM). TDVAM is an opportunity for communities across the country to unite in their support of victims of dating violence and to work to prevent violence before it happens.
In honor of TDVAM, and as part of their "Tough Topic" series, the Sublette County Public Library and the SAFV Task Force are sponsoring two screenings of the Lifetime Original Movie "Reviving Ophelia". A must-see for parents and teenagers, "Reviving Ophelia" tells the story of 17-year-old Elizabeth and her first serious boyfriend, Mark. When the relationship becomes abusive, Elizabeth’s family and friends struggle to understand the warning signs and changes they see in Elizabeth, who is in greater danger from her boyfriend than even she realizes. There will be free materials about dating violence available, and following the movie, there will be an opportunity for parents and audience members to ask questions.
"Reviving Ophelia" will be shown on Tuesday, February 22nd at 6 p.m. at the Sublette County Library, 155 S. Tyler Avenue in Pinedale. It will also be shown on Thursday, February 24th at 6 pm at the Big Piney branch of the Sublette County Library, 106 Fish Street. Both events are free and open to the public; refreshments will be served.
