Pinedale Lions Club celebrates 35th Anniversary March 17
Potluck Dinner at Rendezvous Pointe
by Pinedale Lions Club
March 13, 2011

The Pinedale Lions Club will proudly celebrate its 35th anniversary of service to our community on Thursday, March 17, 2011 with a potluck dinner at Rendezvous Pointe. All friends and current, former, and prospective members are welcome. Please RSVP to Lion Pat Schwab at 307-367-2672.

Activities in the last year have included hosting the Harlem Ambassadors Basketball Show as a fundraiser for Sublette County Special Olympics, providing three $1000 scholarships to Pinedale High School seniors, Home & Garden Show, two highway clean-ups, providing concessions for the Rendezvous Pageant (and feeding the crew in celebration of their anniversary), cooking for the Pinedale Half Marathon, sponsoring a new Pinedale Leo Club (community service for youth ages 12 – 18), providing trophies and concessions for the Freshman Basketball Tournament, and sponsoring a new Lions Club in Big Piney/Marbleton. Hundreds of pairs of eye glasses have been collected for donation to other countries. Eye exams have been paid for. Donations have been made to the Allen H. Stewart Camp for the Blind in Casper, the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank and Institute, the Braille Institute, Leader Dog (guide dogs for the vision impaired), Haiti Disaster Relief, Raising Readers, Special Olympics, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Garrett’s Palms, and various individual students traveling with youth programs.

The original charter roster dated March 17, 1976 includes 30 names, with Chester Mariner as President, Edwin Adams as Secretary and Robert Sweedler, Jr. as Treasurer.

Another incarnation of the Pinedale Lions Club operated from 1943 to 1966. The current Pinedale club was sponsored by the Big Piney Lions Club, which has just started its third chapter. Both clubs have provided many needed community services over the years, including providing firewood and snow removal for seniors, collecting scrap during the war, building playgrounds and parks, raising money for clinics and ice skating rinks and much more.

The Pinedale Lions Club looks forward to another 35 years of rewarding service to our community and hopes you’ll join us. We greatly appreciate all the support provided by individuals and businesses which allows us to continue this work – thank you all!
