Afterschool Science Fun
Pinedale Afterschool Program

Last Tuesday, April 21, the Afterschool Program kids learned about science the fun way. Ms. Elaine Crumply, who comes to work with the kids on a regular basis, helped the kids learn how to make bouncy eggs. The eggs were first soaked in vinegar. The kids learned how this breaks down the outer part of the shell, leaving the cell membrane. After 24 hours in the vinegar, the eggs were rinsed off and the shell had become soft. Thursday afternoon, the kids put their experiment to the test. Unfortunately, when dropped on the gravel outside the school, instead of bouncing, the eggs just went splat. All the same, it was a fun experiment. In addition to small experiments like these, Ms. Crumply is also helping the older kids design and complete science fair projects. They will be presented at our own science showcase to be held ater school on Thursday, May 12th. Family and friends are welcome to join us!
