The Associates Press reported that President Barack Obama formally signed the budget bill Friday, and that the bill included a provision that will result in the loss of federal protection for gray wolves in five western states. In as soon as 60 days, state managers will be responsible for wolves in Montana, Idaho, Utah, Washington and Oregon. Wolves will remain under federal jurisdiction in Wyoming for now.
