On July 9, 2011 Pine Creek will be the site of the First Annual Rendezvous Days Duck Derby to benefit the Pregnancy Resource Center. Volunteers for the event will be dumping 2,000 rubber ducks into the water to race for $1,000 cash and gift certificates from local businesses.
The race will start at 2:30 p.m. north of American Legion Park and end at Boyd Skinner Park next to Tyler Street. The PRC will be doing duck "adoptions" at their office at 115 N. Tyler Street from now until July 6th. After that time people may adopt their ducks during Rendezvous Days until noon the day of the race. Duck adoptions start at just $10.00.
"The staff and board members of the PRC are excited to host the very first duck derby in Pinedale," said Melissa Andersen, Executive Director for the PRC. "It will be fun for people of all ages."
The PRC will also be doing other activities prior to the race that will keep people entertained. "We plan on selling fuzzy ducks and doing a fun contest called "Chuck A Duck," said Melissa Andersen. "More details will be available as the event gets closer."
This event is made possible with the generous support of local businesses. Event sponsors include: Rain for Rent, Sublette Insurance, Rat Pac Enterprises, Wells Fargo, Harker Striping & Signs, Mason & Mason Law Offices, Adam’s Concrete, Pinedale Dental, Rocky Mountain Home Center/Gannett Sports, Dwayne Fish Construction, Pitchfork Fondue, and Dee Bailey.
"I am excited these businesses have chosen to put their name on the derby," said Melissa Andersen. "It would have been nearly impossible for the PRC to fund this event without their help."
Rain for Rent is one business that has supported the PRC over the past few years. "Rain for Rent is committed to make a positive contribution to the communities in which we live and work and the Pregnancy Resource Center is one of those organizations which we feel can make a positive contribution to. They do provide a great and lasting experience for many individuals and families," said John Dubois, Branch Manager.
