by Bridger-Teton National Forest
August 23, 2011
KEMMERER, WYOMING – The Kemmerer Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest will be replacing a culvert on the Labarge Creek road. The culvert replacement is approximately 28 miles northwest of LaBarge, Wyoming near Scalar Guard Station (T28N R116W Section 11). The new culvert will have a native rock bottom and a larger span in order to improve the fisheries habitat in the LaBarge drainage. Construction work is planned to begin Monday, August 22. The Labarge Creek road is planned to be closed from September 6 through 11 for the installation of the culvert. Construction signs and barricades will be posted near the construction in locations convenient for turning vehicles around.
The Kemmerer Ranger District identified the existing culvert as a fish barrier and an opportunity to improve fisheries habitat and hydrologic function of Labarge Creek. For more information on the status of the culvert replacements, contact the Kemmerer Ranger District at 307-828-5100.
