Obituary – April A. Lippincott
August 30, 2011
The Good Lord called April A. Lippincott home August 27, 2011. April was born March 23, 1960. She was raised in the Spokane Valley to parents Rudy and Janet Albi. She attended Central Valley High School and Spokane Community College. In 1995, she married the love of her life, Gene Lippincott. The two of them hunted and fished all over the continental United States, Alaska and Canada. They had an incredibly close relationship with each other, their family and with anyone that met them.
In 2002, they bought a business in Daniel, Wyoming; ten days later, April was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. They forged forward with faith in GOD, each other and life. April went through treatment for six months. During her chemotherapy sessions April and Gene realized there was a big need for some kind of financial assistance for cancer victims living in Sublette County. Living in a very remote area proved challenging to receive critical cancer treatment. Many families drove several hours away and were gone from home for several weeks. Medical insurance pays for treatment, but not fuel, food or lodging during these times.
April and Gene started a non-profit organization named "Kickin’ Cancer in Sublette County." This was April’s pride and joy: Helping People. That is what she loved most. Kickin’ Cancer grew under her direction and has helped over 70 families and given more than $750,000 to Sublette County residents to assist in these costs related to cancer treatment.
In 2008, April was diagnosed with a terminal form of breast cancer. She took this in stride as a woman of faith. She knew she was in the Lord’s hands. She continued to encourage other cancer victims, even though she was much more ill. Her illness forced them to sell their beloved Daniel Junction in 2009 and they retired on the Pend Oreille River near Spokane. April and Gene are members of the Dalkena Community Church. Her father Rudy Albi and her mother Janet Brunke preceded April in death. She is survived by her husband, Gene Lippincott of Cusick, WA; step-daughter, Kimberly/Don Myers; step grandchildren: Ashley and Mikayla Myers of Daniel, WY; step-son, Eric/Kristen Lippincott of Daniel, WY; sister, Susan Gillespie of Portland, OR; brothers: Frank Albi of Newman Lake, WA and Steve Waybrant of Pittsburgh, PA.
