A power outage on Thursday, August 25th, caused a loss of electrical service to approximately 5,600 customers in the Pinedale, Marbelton, Daniel, Boulder and Big Piney areas. The outage occurred at approximately 9:50 p.m.
According to Margaret Oler, External Communications, Media Relations with Rocky Mountain Power, protective devices in a substation opened and crews patrolled the area to find the cause. They found a damaged insulator. Personnel worked well into the night to locate the problem and make repairs.
Power was restored to 1,700 customers in the Big Piney area at 12:30 a.m. Power was restored to the remaining 4,900 customers at 2:33 a.m on Friday morning.
It is believed this damaged insulator was the cause of some intermittent problems in the area since the first of August, and that this discovery, and the repairs completed during the night, have corrected this problem.
