Art and Poetry show in September celebrates recovery in Sublette County
Reception Sept. 14th at then Pinedale Library
September 11, 2011
Recovery Month promotes the societal benefits of treatment for substance use and mental disorders, celebrates people in recovery, lauds the contributions of treatment providers, and promotes the message that recovery in all its forms is possible. Recovery Month spreads the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, that prevention works, treatment is effective and people can and do recover. To raise awareness and inform people of the available treatment and recovery resources, a collaboration of local organizations is sponsoring an Art and Poetry Show in Pinedale during the month of September, 2011. The "Art of Recovery" project illustrates, via mixed media and poetry, how individuals are creating a new life in recovery.
The "Art of Recovery" is part of the 22nd observance of National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month (Recovery Month), sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA’s) Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This year’s celebration in Sublette County, "The Art of Recovery", intends to celebrate life in recovery through a variety of artistic and poetic creations and encourages friends, colleagues, and family members to begin their own journey through recovery.
