Rules, deadline change for 2011 Wyoming Wildlife Photo Contest

CHEYENNE, WYOMING – Photographers are reminded that less than two months remain to submit entries for the annual Wyoming Wildlife photo contest. The deadline for submitting entries is Monday, November 21, 2011.
A major change for this year is the format for images entered in the contest. Editor Chris Madson said that transparencies and prints will no longer be accepted. The contest this year will use a digital format, which will reduce staff time needed to administer the contest and eliminate the need to return images. If photographers are working in color negative or transparency format, the images can be scanned.
Images are required to be submitted in digital form on a CD or DVD. Photographers will need to send a separate disk for each category entered. This will allow judges to review images in each category without sorting them first. Disks will not be returned and will be destroyed after images have been chosen for the contest and special photo issues of Wyoming Wildlife.
To be eligible, all photos must have been taken in Wyoming. Photographers can compete in several categories including Wildlife, Scenic-Pictorial, Recreational Activities, and Flora. There will be no separate division for black-and-white images; all photos in a category will be judged together.
The grand prize winner will receive $300. First place in each category will be awarded $150, second $100 and third $50. Winning entries will be featured in the February 2012 issue and noteworthy entries may also be selected for the April essay issue.
