10/15/11 salesmen Several people have inquired asking about the laws regarding door-to-door salesmen in Sublette County. Door-to-door peddling is legal outside of the Pinedale Town limits in the County. Citizens can post "No Soliciting" and "No Trespassing" signs on their property to alert uninvited persons they cannot come onto private property without permission. For complaints in the county, contact the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office, 307-367-4378. Inside Town limits, the Town of Pinedale has an ordinance making unwanted door-to-door peddling illegal, punishable as a misdemeanor. Complaints for violation can be directed to the town Municipal enforcement officer, 307-367-4136.

Chapter 334. PEDDLING AND SOLICITING Article I. Door to Door Solicitation [Adopted 1951 and 1970 by Ord. No. 17 (Ch. 5.12 of the 1983 Municipal Code)]
§ 334-1. Uninvited peddlers, hawkers and solicitors; nuisance. The practice of going in and upon private residences of the Town by solicitors, peddlers, hawkers, itinerant merchants and transient vendors of merchandise, not having been requested or invited to do so by the owner of owners, occupant or occupants of the private residences, for the purpose of soliciting orders for the sale of goods, wares and merchandise, or for the purpose of disposing of, peddling or hawking the same, is a nuisance and punishable as such nuisance as a misdemeanor.
§ 334-2. Suppression and abatement. The Chief of Police and police force of the Town are required and directed to suppress and to abate any such nuisance as is prescribed in § 334-1.
§ 334-3. Violations and penalties. [Amended 1984 by Ord. No. 132] Any person convicted of perpetrating a nuisance as described in § 334-1 is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be subject to the general penalty in Chapter 1, Article IV, General Penalty.
