The National Weather Service advises that a strong cold front will move across the area Wednesday afternoon producing areas of light snow and strong northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts to 45 mph Wednesday night. Snow will generally end, but the potential for very strong northeast winds exist along the foothills from Pinedale south to Big Sandy and northeast of Farson. Northeast winds of 30 to 40 mph, with gusts of 50 to 60 mph could develop in these areas. Wind chills will drop below zero Wednesday night in these areas. Wind chills will drop below zero Wednesday night. Another similar system may hit the area Friday afternoon into Saturday.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon. Accumulations of 4-8 inches of snow over South Pass and eastern slopes of the Wind River Mountains – less on the western slopes. Strong winds will cause considerable blowing and drifting snow which may cause near whiteout conditions along South Pass. Travel along Highway 28 over South Pass may become especially hazardous due to limited visibility along with slick and snow covered roads. Winds chills will be as cold as minus 20.
