United Way funding process set to begin
by United Way of Southwest Wyoming
December 5, 2011

United Way of Southwest Wyoming (UWSW) will be accepting letters of intent (LOI) for grants for the 2012-2013 funding process from any tax exempt organization that serves residents in Lincoln, Sublette, Sweetwater or Uinta Counties.

An informational meeting for Sublette County organizations wanting to apply will be held on December 15, 2011 at 12 o’clock in the afternoon at the Sublette County Library, 155 S. Tyler St., Pinedale, WY.

"I strongly encourage any organization wanting to apply for funding this year to attend this meeting, " said Kathy Tacke, UWSW director of community impact, who will be heading up the meeting. "We will cover the funding timeline; criteria and requirements to apply including audits, non-profit status and organization outcomes; letters of intent, application overview and changes from 2011; reporting process and format; and will have a question and answer session."

Interested organizations need to submit a hard-copy, LOI with attachments to UWSW no later than Jan. 12, 2012 by 5 p.m.; no faxes or e-mails will be accepted. The LOI funding form can be found at UWSW’s website, www.swunitedway.org or by contacting UWSW at 362-5003. Funding will be directed to programs, services, strategies and collaborations that will address short and long-term goals in three specific areas – education, health and basic needs. The LOI will include a one page mission statement and narrative describing how the organization’s program will achieve outcome results that align with the UWSW strategic plan.

"United Way’s job in reaching these goals is to recruit the people and organizations from all across the community who bring the passion, expertise and resources needed to get things done. When we engage committed people the work happens. Matching the right programs with available resources allows us to reach these goals. When we are all working together toward a common purpose we are truly living united," said Suzanne Zutter, United Way executive director.

Applicants will be contacted regarding their eligibility status the week of Jan. 30, 2012. For more information about the LOI or Community Partners Funding Timeline (including guidelines and application deadlines) visit www.swunitedway.org, or contact Kathy Tacke at 307-362-5003, or community@swunitedway.org. LOIs can be mailed or delivered to United Way of Southwest Wyoming, 404 N St., Ste. 301, Rock Springs.
