Flaring deprives state coffers gas revenue from non-renewable resource by Pinedale Online! December 8, 2011 Platts posted an article saying officials with the Wyoming Office of State Lands Investment want to limit the length of time that producers can flare natural gas produced on state lands without having to pay royalties on it. Government officials contend the practice of flaring unwanted gas is a waste of a valuable resource and, when it takes place on state land, deprives the state of revenues it would otherwise receive. The article says the Lands Investment Office will likely present a proposed rule limiting operators to 15 days of royalty-free flaring at the State Board of Land Commissions monthly meeting in either January or February.
