Snow on the way
January 16, 2012
For those watching the weather waiting for snow for snowmachining and skiing, looks like your snow dance has worked and snow is on the way and expected to hit Wyoming mid-week. Significant snowfall expected at times across western Wyoming from Wednesday, January 18th, into the weekend.
A strong, moist westerly flow aloft is expected to develop around midweek. The snowfall will be enhanced at times as weather disturbances aloft move across western Wyoming in this moist, westerly flow. With the warmer Pacific air moving in it is even possible that snow may mix with rain on the western valley floors by Thursday afternoon. Otherwise, snow and wind will continue across much of western Wyoming from Wednesday into the weekend.
