Robotics, chemistry/biology, computer flight simulator classes offered

This winter, the Sublette County Board of Cooperative Education Services (BOCES) in Pinedale is offering six-week classes for elementary school age students grades 3-5. Register at www.subletteboces.com.
Tuesdays Robotics Instructor: Robin Schamber Description: Participants will spend Tuesday afternoons learning about robotics and constructing a robot as well as making it perform specific functions and tasks. Ages: Grades third through fifth Cost: Snacks - $50 Location: BOCES Classroom 130 Dates: Tuesdays, Jan. 10, 17, 24, 31, Feb. 7, 14, 21, 28, Fee: $10
Thursdays Cool Chemistry & Creepy Crawlies- PES Instructor: Tim Crawford Description: For six weeks, participants will conduct chemistry and biology experiments that are entertaining and educational along with discussions of what is seen in the chemical reactions and processes with the biology element including examination of microorganisms found in pond water. Dates: Thursdays, Jan. 5, 12, 19, 26, Feb. 2 and 9 Times: 3:45 to 5 p.m. Location: BOCES Center Classroom 110 Workroom Ages: Elementary School Students grades 3, 4 and/or 5 Fee: $15
Flight Simulators- PES- Session 2 Instructor: Jeron Ricks/Jon Gibson Description: Up to 8 participants will spend six Thursday afternoons delving into the world of flight simulation, earning points to tally towards fantastic prizes at the end of the course as well as learn about navigation, pilot certification, engines and instruments all from a local pilot. Then assemble a model plane for more flight experience! As participants complete tutorials to gain the basic skills of flying, those skills will be tested in missions to gain points towards prizes. Once you’ve completed the missions: - Choose to fly one of 22 different aircraft; from a glider to a 747; - Take off and fly from over 15,000 cities across the globe; - Play weatherman with options ranging from clear skies to flying in a major thunderstorm or blizzard; - Compete against other players to gain more points towards prizes.
