Governor Matt Mead has ordered both the U.S. flag and State of Wyoming flag be flown at half staff statewide from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in honor of Technical Sergeant Matthew Schwartz who was killed in action in Afghanistan on January 5, 2012. TSgt Schwartz was stationed at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne.

Editor’s Note: 34-year old Matthew Schwartz was from Traverse City, Michigan. Schwartz and two others died when an improvised explosive device hit their vehicle in Afghanistan's Helmand province. He had 12 years in the Air Force and was on his sixth deployment.
