Marie Bullock Barnes, 98, passed away Monday, February 6, 2012, in Ogden, Utah. She was born July 17, 1913. Marie and her husband, Willis, moved to Pinedale in 1955-56 to build the Sun Dance Motel. While in Pinedale, Marie and Willis were involved in Sublette County’s growth. When the new bank was being established, they purchased charter stock to help the bank become a reality. They were also financially involved in the development of the White Pine Ski Area. Both Marie and Willis loved Pinedale, and after selling the motel they continued to return for many years. Marie is survived by three children, Dale (LoAnne) Barnes, Shirley (Gary) Slaugh, and Connie (Gene) Wenz-Andrews; 14 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 34 great- great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held Friday, February 10, at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th St., in Ogden, Utah, from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 11, at the Evanston city cemetery at 1 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.leavittsmortuary.com.
