Saturday, March 24th: Heard the first meadowlarks today. Have had reports that the bluebirds have been back for about a week now. Have seen some green grass growing on the warm side next to buildings. Buds are swelling on bushes and trees, but no leaves are out yet.

Calving has begun (some ranches have been doing it for weeks now).

Has anyone seen a robin or sandhill cranes yet? Anyone have spring bulbs coming up yet?
