April 12, 2012
The Bridger-Teton National Forest has extended the public comment period on the True Oil exploration proposal approximately 22-miles northwest of Big Piney in Sublette County, Wyoming until May 15th, 2012. True Oil, LLC (True), is proposing to drill two wells from two well pads (one well on each well pad). One is from an existing well pad that would need to be expanded; the other is from a pad that has been reclaimed and would need to be reconstructed. A third well pad (existing) would be expanded to hold a 65,000-barrel freshwater reservoir for drilling and completion. Before the Bridger-Teton begins its Environmental Assessment of this proposal, the Forest is gathering any concerns or comments from the public. The Environmental Assessment will also be made available for public review and comment once it is drafted. The scoping notice is the first formal opportunity to respond to the proposed action. The scoping process will assist the Bridger-Teton in identifying specific issues to be addressed related to the purpose and need and the scope of the decision. b>Written comments must be received by May 15, 2012 and should be sent to Eric J. Winthers, Acting District Ranger, Big Piney Ranger District, Bridger-Teton National Forest, P.O. Box 218, Big Piney, WY 83113. Comments may also be submitted via email at comments-intermtn-bridger-teton-big-piney@fs.fed.us (subject line should read "Lander Peak Exploration Project"). Copies of True’s Exploration Proposal are available for review at the Forest Service Big Piney Ranger District Office. Digital copies of True’s proposal and a project map are available at http://www.fs.usda.gov/goto/btnf/projects.
