The Sublette Local Food Alliance proudly announced today the approval of a $5,000 grant from the Wyoming Business Council AgriBusiness Division to assist in bringing Keynote Speaker Joel Salatin to LocalFest 2012 being held in Pinedale May 21st to May 26th. Joel Salatin, Grass Farmer and star of Food, Inc. and Fresh was featured in Michael Pollan's best selling book Omnivore's Dilemna. Salatin is the renowned author of Folks, This Ain't Normal and Everything I Want To Do Is Illegal. Most importantly, Joel Salatin is a self proclaimed grass farmer on his Polyface Farm in Swoope, Virginia raising beef, pork and poultry holistically.

On Tuesday, the Pinedale Travel & Tourism Commission approved a $2,500 grant to accentuate LocalFest 2012's marketing efforts in Wyoming, Eastern Idaho, the Salt Lake Valley and Southern Montana.

LocalFest 2012 will be filled with Workshops on Growing, Sustainability, Alternative Energy and Food Preservation. There will be a Ranchers Series featuring Succession Planning by UW Extension's Cole Ehmke. A Mobile Poultry Processing Unit will be on display. Slow Foods of the Tetons will co-host a Gala Reception and Supper with Joel featuring Local Foods from Area Farms, Local Music by Michelle & Nate, and Local Beer provided by Wind River Brewing Co. The Pinedale Farmers Market will kick off its season on Saturday, May 26th from 10am to 2pm at the Pinedale Library.
