Spring Fishing Report (5/31/12)

May 26, 2012
The snow pack melt started in early April this spring and the streams have ebbed and flowed with warm, then cool temperature swings throughout April and May. This has resulted in some excellent spring fish catching. When cool temperatures prevail the water flow decreases and visibility in the water column improves enough to get the fish moving on showy streamer patterns.
We are currently experiencing another cycle of run-off, but I think this may be the beginning of the real thing. The latest stretch of warm weather has got the streams rolling again and the high mountain drainages are starting to spill some water down hill. This signifies the start of the higher snow melt, but it remains gradual based upon the prevailing cool night temperatures.
The alternating weather pattern was supported by our traditional Memorial Day storm system which gave us a good moisture boost. As pertains to stream fishing conditions this is a desirable trend which should give us good fishing water later into the summer. All of the low lakes around Pinedale are open and are presenting excellent stillwater fishing opportunities. If the current weather patterns persist, the streams should be in prime shape for fishing in early July. Since weather and water conditions change daily during the spring, please feel free to contact us at Two Rivers Emporium for the latest information. (1-800-329-4353)
