‘Burning Boulders and Glaciation of Fremont Lake’ talk June 5
June 4, 2012
Dr. Edward B. Evenson, glacial geologist associated with the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, will be at the Sublette County Library on Tuesday, June 5 at 6:30 pm to give a talk on how to recognize, map and assign ages to the glacial deposits around Fremont Lake. He will also talk about the affect of sage fires on the boulders on the moraines which explain why the moraines close to the lake have so many boulders and those closer to Pinedale are almost boulder free. Dr. Evenson has been bringing Lehigh University geology field camp students to Pinedale for nearly three decades.
